Pefley - Reba Myers

Reba Ruth Myers was born to Alva and Anna Cory Myers in Fountain County on the 18th of December in 1906 joining her only sister, Leona Pearl, who was two years older. She attended Ellis Grade School, then graduated from Hillsboro HS in 1925.  Moving to Crawfordsville to help housekeep for a family, she met Carl Peffley.  They were married February 9, 1929 by Justice of the Peace, Baily WIngert.  They, too, would have two children, Vivian Ann (Feb 3, 1930) and Alva Franklin Peffley (born Feb 13, 1933 and later retired after 21 years in the USAF).

Not quite set in what they wanted to do as a family (he worked at Allison Aviation, as a farmer in Russellville) they finally moved to the Wilt Spotted Poland China Farm in Fountain County and absolutely loved their life there.  She loved to take Nellie and the surrey and wind around the area of Hillsboro, looking at the beautiful scenery, crops and cattle.  Later the farm was sold and that was the end of her beloved life there.

An opening at the Dale Flickenberger Farm near Lowell, Indiana was their next stop; however, Carl fell victim to an accident that left him partially paralyzed.  Moving to Lowell, they lived for over two decades at 216 N. Castle Street.

Carl Francis Peffley was active in the American Legion and VFW and passed away at the Hines Veteran's Hospital in Illinois.

Reba lived a long life after her man passed away in Lowell in April of 1982.
